    Happy
   Spring!
I made some meringue cookies. Remember to make the cookies on a dry day, otherwise they won’t work.
Chocolate Chip Meringue Cookies
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Beat eggs until fluffy.
Add salt, cream of tartar and vanilla until soft peaks form
Add sugar gradually until batter is stiff.
Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
Spoon onto parchment lined sheets
Bake 25 minutes. The underside will be a light brown
OR: Place cookies in preheated 350 degree oven. Turn off oven and leave for 2 hours or overnight.
OR: If you prefer soft and fluffy, bake at 200 degrees for 1.5 -2 hours till slightly golden and firm to touch
I am doing an article on rattlesnakes. This summer Momma and Mark discovered their first rattlesnakes. My uncle has a really neat rattlesnake skin mounted on his wall. I thought it would be fun to try to gross Momma out with rattlesnake stories.
Today we learned that rattlesnakes taste like bony greasy chicken.
There is something called Rattlesnake Roundups. People look for rattlesnakes and then they put them in a pit. They take the rattlesnakes and milk them and skin them and cook them. After “milking” the venom, they use it to make anti-venom somehow.
My Oma told me that my Great Grandfather got bitten by a rattlesnake while picking grapes. Oma thinks he sucked the venom out and then went into town to get checked. He was okay. I know that Oma killed a rattlesnake while babysitting her cousins. My uncle has an unique idea for rattlesnakes.
I was wondering if you have any stories about rattlesnakes? I would like some stories that are kind of funny about when you met a rattlesnake. Have you ever tried eating one?
I helped Megan make Turtles in the Mud. This is how to make them, according to Megan, our guest cook.
In the cupboards get Rolos, pecans and/or M&Ms and pretzels. On a pan, put the pretzels on, with Rolos on top. Have Anya bake for 5 minutes till the chocolate get melted. Then I put on pecan and then more and then more. Then I done. Cool then eat them.
You can put pretzel M&M’s on them or regular M&M’s. They also work if you use gluten free pretzels.Â
Momma said the Rolo’s ingredients are gluten free, but they might have gluten in them from where they make them. So if you can eat a little gluten, you can make them too. Daddy really liked them.

I am learning how to knit. My neighbor, Mrs. Klaussen is teaching me. I can knit and Purl. I learned how to make button holes too.
I started knitting on a loom, but I wanted to knit with needles. Grandma taught me some, but I didn’t quite get it. I noticed that Mrs. Klassen had her knitting stuff, so I asked her if she could teach me too, and she said yes.
I have also got books from the library. I know how to make a hat. I am working on knitting Daddy a coffee cozy and some other projects.
I want to learn to knit socks next.
Thank you Mrs. Klassen and Grandma for helping me learn how to knit!
Yesterday, when Megan was playing up front with Mark making a snowman, I rolled a big huge ball and turned it into a car. Then I went up front and asked Megan if she wanted to come buy a car with me. Megan said yes and I took her over to the car.
She climbed in. She really liked playing in it! She liked to play that her car kept needing to be fixed. I told her she needed to buy a new one and she just looked at me and giggled.
The car is still up and she still loves to play in it!
Last night, Mommy and I were playing with bubbles. We were trying to get pictures of them frosting. It was hard because it was dark and they would move where the light was not shining on them or they would to pop quickly. This is my favorite. Which is your favorite?
It’s been really cold out. We were experimenting with ice bubbles. I got one on my mitten. We played around with the bubble before it broke.

I took a picture of the bubble and when I got inside, I was playing with the picture and “cartooned it” then put teeth and eyes and hair on it.
I really like playing with my pictures when Momma lets me on free time.

I was supposed to be writing a cinquain when I came up with that poem. Our books says a simple cinquain has a line pattern of one, two, three, four, one. A harder one has 2 syllables, four, six, eight, two.  Here is my cinquain 🙂
