We went to Oma’s house to mow her lawn. When we got there, we saw the biggest bird I have ever saw! It was smaller than an Ostrich, but slightly larger than a Secretary Bird, I think.
It appears to come from Alaska, because it had a funny Poler Bear marking on it. We watched it waiting for an egg. It had gone off for food and there was not any eggs. It came back and when it went off again, there was a funny colored egg! It was a pinky purplish color!
Momma said we had to go because Daddy and Mark had finished mowing the lawn.
When we came back a week later to mow the lawn, we saw a very bored Momma bird. She looked like she wanted a book, but we were afraid she would fly away. Then, we noticed a crack in the egg!
The Momma bird got out the nest and watched the egg crack open more. Slowly, we watched a baby bird come out of the egg! The Momma bird looked so excited. I thought it was neat that the baby bird looked almost like it’s Mom! It had the same Polar Bear markings on its tummy.
When we came back a week later, we watched it fly away. I missed watching the baby bird grow. That would have been fun.
I wonder if this bird will ever come back. I will be watching for it.
Great story and pictures!! Please don’t tell everyone about the rare birds we have in our garden. Someone might turn it into a bird sanctuary and not let us come back and try to keep the birds in cages!! 🙁
🙂 Love you!!!!
