My Twin Butterflies

Today one of our caterpillars died while he was making his chrysalis. He fell. I am sad.

We have twin butterflies. They are boys. I got to hold one of the butterflies and he flew away by our window. I caught him and gave him to Andrea and she put him back in the cage. They like to eat watermelon. We had two girls and two boys so far this year.

Right now I have 14 chrysalises.  One may emerge tomorrow. We have one roaming caterpillar, and three making their webs. We have 7 small caterpillars.

I will try to post better pictures of the twins tomorrow. It was too hot this afternoon and they kept flying away. They usually play in the morning better then in the afternoon.

My New Butterfly

This is my new butterfly, Curious George. My cousin Joshua found him. We were at the fireworks and Joshua was down by the water where some milkweed was growing and he found a caterpillar. He brought it over. I did not know he found it until I came back to the blanket.

I was holding the caterpillar, ’cause we were looking for a cage for him. Then we found one.

Joshua went somewhere with his parents and his big brother. We got to babysit the caterpillar. Then when Joshua and his parents and big brother came back he was already in his chrysalis.

The first picture is when he is in his “J”. He is getting ready to get in his chrysalis. The next picture is when he is getting into his chrysalis. He is molting for the very last time.

He stays as a chrysalis for about a week. His chrysalis looks like it is turning black, but it is actually see through. Usually in the morning sometime, the butterfly will emerge. They can be very fast!

After their wings dry, we get to hold them! Then we let them go. Sometime we let them go the same day.  With Christopher Robin it began to storm and pour down rain and rain so we kept him for another day. We got to keep Curious George a few days.

It looks like we may have two new butterflies tomorrow. I will let you know!

Birthday Surprise

Yesterday, we went to soccer and then we came home. Momma asked if Daddy could go shopping while she made dinner.

When we got home, Daddy asked if I wanted to go shopping with him. I said yes. Adrian wanted to go to. Daddy said that you got to go last time and it’s Audrey’s turn.

I hoped (and I thought) that we were going to get my ears pierced so I got an elastic and pulled my hair back. We went to Claire’s and we got my ears pierced!

Daddy said, “She wants her ears pierced!” The lady who worked there took some earrings that I could pick from. I picked some little diamond earrings. They are very very pretty. When I was looking at the earrings she said, “the older you are, the more it hurts”. I am glad I wasn’t a hundred when I got them done!

She washed her hands and put some gloves on. Then she cleaned my ears and she took a marker and marked my ears. She asked Daddy if it was even. Daddy said to move a little bit this way. We kept having to move where the mark was because she thought it was either her or the shape of my ears, but she could not get them to look right.

The last time she did it and it worked! Then she took a machine and Andrea said it was a big machine. She put it where the marker was and then she pushed the button and the earring pushed my ear and it hurted a little bit. Then it connected to the back. Then she did it again to my other ear.

We went shopping. Then we got home and surprised everybody.  I was  holding where my earrings were so Momma would not see and it would be a surprise.

Creation Museum

We went to the Creation Museum. We had fun!

We went to the petting zoo. There were horses and two kangaroos. We saw a peacock. We had lots and lots of fun. We got some food for the animals on the ground. We fed the animals. I don’t have a favorite, but I liked them all.

My 7th Birthday!

Today is my birthday, and Adrian said “happy birthday” to me about a dozen times and I like that!

We had a soccer game this morning. We did good. We had fun.

We are going to have pepperoni pizza or ham and pineapple pizza. I have a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and ice cream. Andrea, Mark and Adrian are decorating my cake. I don’t know what it looks like. They gave me some purple frosting. It tastes go-oo–od!

I like horses. So Momma took us to see some horse statues in Lexington.

Spending the Night!

Auntie Angelique asked if Andrea and I could come over and spend the night. We made some pizza and had cheese sandwiches with crackers instead of bread. We watched Parent Trap (with Haley Mills).  My friend Ianna came over too.

We all slept together in a big bed. Uncle Sam had to read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe because we had trouble getting to sleep.

I woke up and then I took a shower. Then we ate breakfast, bread and eggs and BACON! Then it was time to go.

It was FUN! Fun, Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!

Still Love them

I like Cheerios. I prefer regular, but I like Honey Nut Cheerios too. They are my favorite breakfast cereal. I have liked them since I was little. Here is a story from when I was little.

Cheerios

By Audrey, age 3 (26 September 2007)

I put the Cheerios in the bowl. Five bowls from downstairs. I come upstairs with the bowls. I put some Cheerios in there. A lot of Cheerios!

I ran away with them. I was going to MacDonalds. I ran away again. Then I ran away lots of times. I ran some more! Some Cheerios ran away too with me. I hold the Cheerios and ran away with them to MacDonalds.

Momma saw me. Momma take a picture. “Come over here! No, Don’t get no more Cheerios and run away with them. With lots and lots of Cheerios.” Momma put them in the box and put the Cheerios away.

I really a lot and a lot like lots of Cheerios.

I don’t have any more. I not do it anymore.

The end.

Something New I Can Do

I told Mark, “can you help me ride Andrea’s bike?” So he did! He helped me, he holded me and then he ran with me and let go. I rode for a little bit and fell.

Then I ran inside,”Mom Mom! I rode Andea’s bike!” Momma said, “without me seeing?” She said, “no way! You can’t ride it!”

Then Momma got some brownies ready–she made them yesterday without us knowing–and said they were to celebrate.

Then I showed Mommy. She let me ride on the road. I shouted, “Zoooommmm”. She took pictures. Momma was surprised, because this was the first time someone helped me to learn. When Mommy watched, I had to turn. With trees in the way, I crashed into them. I did not get hurt, Yippee! Then I ate my brownie! It was good.

I liked riding Andrea’s bike. I liked surprising Mom. She was very surprised. I want to get my training wheels off and ride some more!

Groundhog Day Fun

GroundhogsToday we went to Nature Nuts and learned about groundhogs. Groundhogs are also called woodchucks, whistling pigs and marmots.

Groundhogs eat lots and lots before winter.  Then they make a hole, get in their hole, plug up their nest and the hole, and then they go to sleep.  And they snore like this “ashoo, ashooo.”  Their body temperature goes down really low. How long does it go to?  (Momma remembered that Miss Krista said about 37 degrees Fahrenheit).

Groundhog AdrianWe made a fun goody, learned a new song, and pretended we were groundhogs. We learned that “Punxsutawney Phil” jumped out of his hole and when he saw his shadow, said “Winter’s not over for six more weeks!”

Groundhog cupcake

Here is a fun treat to make.  Bake your favorite cupcake and frost it with vanilla icing.  Cut a hole in the cupcake and stick in a small Almond Joy candy bar. Sprinkle with crushed Oreo Cookie “mud”.  Decorate with mini M&M’s.  Share with your family!

We learned this song–Here’s a Little Groundhog (to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot”)

Here’s a little groundhog, furry and brown,
He’s popping up to look around.
If he sees his shadow, down he’ll go.
Then six more weeks of winter – Oh No!!

I hope you like winter!  I like winter very very much!
