Scandinavian Crafts

We are learning about Scandinavia. People who live there are Scandinavians.  We are learning how to do Scandinavian crafts. We made Swedish heart weaving baskets. They were hard until you got the picture.

Momma made a Finnish Paper Star. The picture did not turn out, but the star is hanging like it is hanging on the Christmas tree.

We made a gingerbread house–but that was not really Scandivanianish. Gingerbread houses are more from Germany.

Can you give me ideas for crafts from other countries?

Turkey Time

Today was Nature Nuts and we learned about Turkeys! Before Vincent came in, we made turkey hats. Here are pictures of mine and Adrian’s. We made turkey apples! (Adrian made a spider instead).

Vincent is a tame turkey. I think he is 6 years old. He is a boy, Miss Carol has some girl turkeys too. I got to feed him! Something to do when you are the oldest in your class, I got to hold Vincent!

Adrian says to say “The End”, so we can read a book!

The End

Mrs. Leaf Man

Today we were raking some leaves.  We got a really big pile! I was like, “nice haystack, maybe a leaf stack, maybe we should make a leaf man!” So Mark stuck two rakes for his hands. I ran inside and got a hat. Then we got two of the same kind of buckets for his eyes and for his nose a purple bucket.

Then we ran inside and told Mom “we found a leaf man, he was hiding in the woods.”

Butterfly

My Butterfly is still living!  Hooray!  I am happy.  She is almost a month old! I am feeding her and trying not to touch her wings much. She likes to find a place in the sun and sun bathe. When it gets cool at night, she stays so still, she looks like she died.Since she likes climbing to the top of her cage, we put it sideways so she has netting all around and can climb.

She would be already dead by now if she lived in the wild. I like taking care of her. I am having fun with her even though I can mostly just look at her.
